About the artist | Dayarne Smith
Dayarne Smith is a self-taught abstract artist based in the NSW Upper Hunter. Working from her home studio, she creates bold, expressive paintings that explore emotion, movement, colour and the beautifully messy business of being human.
Dayarne’s work is intuitive and deeply personal. She begins without a fixed image in mind, allowing layers of acrylic paint, gestural marks, texture and unexpected colour combinations to build and evolve. Her paintings are energetic, playful and full of feeling, often reflecting the things that are difficult to articulate in words.
With a background in writing and communications, Dayarne has always been drawn to the power of words. But painting has become another way of telling stories.
Her work invites the viewer to find their own meaning in her work.
For Dayarne, that’s the magic of abstract art … creating space for emotion, imagination and connection.
Her paintings are made for people who want to live with art that brings energy, personality and a little more feeling into their everyday spaces.
