Built up in intuitive layers, Serenity combines soft blending with moments of raw texture and expressive mark-making. I used a mix of acrylics, pastels, and pencil to create depth and variation—allowing translucent washes to sit alongside more opaque, gestural strokes.

The palette is intentionally restrained: muted teals, smoky greens, and neutral earthy tones are balanced by soft whites and flashes of brighter blue and yellow. Edges are mostly feathered and atmospheric, but broken up by sharper details and spontaneous drips, adding contrast and movement.

There’s a deliberate use of negative space through the lighter central area, which helps to create a sense of openness and breath. The overall composition came together slowly, through layering and subtracting, letting the painting reveal itself over time.

This painting is on a stretched canvas with the edges painted a complementary colour for a sleek, contemporary finish. It can be hung without an external frame, however professional framing in a floating frame can be arranged at an extra cost.
